A Day Focused on Child Welfare and Social Responsibility in the Strong Tomorrows with Children Project

The “Strong Tomorrows with Children” project, coordinated by Asociación LEGO, is being implemented in Seville, Spain, from 08–14 October 2025 under the Erasmus+ KA152 Youth Exchange programme with the reference number 2025-1-ES02-KA152-YOU-000297708. The project brings together participants from Spain, Türkiye, Albania, Hungary, and Ukraine with the aim of raising awareness about the needs of children living in child protection institutions, strengthening young people's sense of social responsibility, and promoting the exchange of good practices among participating countries.

The day began with a Child Welfare Information Session, during which each country presented information about its child protection system and the situation of children living in care institutions. Participants explored topics such as the number of children in care, the challenges they face, existing support mechanisms, and national policies related to child welfare. Through presentations, discussions, and question-and-answer sessions, participants gained a broader understanding of how different countries address child welfare issues and exchanged ideas on possible improvements.

Building on this knowledge, participants took part in a policy-development workshop where they worked in international groups and imagined themselves as decision-makers responsible for improving the lives of children in care. They discussed children's social and emotional needs, identified priorities for support, and designed potential policies and initiatives that could help create better opportunities for vulnerable children. This activity encouraged critical thinking, teamwork, problem-solving, and active citizenship while allowing participants to transform theoretical knowledge into practical solutions.

The programme continued with a community-oriented social responsibility initiative focused on promoting reading and educational opportunities for children. Participants engaged with local residents, shared information about Erasmus+ and the project's objectives, and highlighted the importance of supporting children through access to books and learning resources. The activity fostered intercultural dialogue, strengthened communication skills, and encouraged greater community involvement in supporting disadvantaged children.

One of the most meaningful moments of the day was the visit to a child protection institution, where participants met children and took part in storytelling and drama-based activities inspired by The Little Prince. Through interactive games, role-playing, and creative expression, children were encouraged to build confidence, develop communication skills, and engage with art and storytelling. At the same time, participants enhanced their empathy, intercultural communication, and understanding of the realities faced by children living in care.

The day concluded with reflection and evaluation sessions, allowing participants to assess their learning experiences, share personal insights, and discuss the impact of the activities. As a result, participants gained a deeper understanding of child welfare issues, developed stronger social awareness, and reinforced their commitment to promoting inclusion, solidarity, and equal opportunities for all children.
