We Want Equal Tales!: Taking the Message of Equality to the Streets of Seville

The fourth day of the "We Want Equal Tales!" Erasmus+ KA152 Youth Exchange project extended its impact beyond the workshop environment and into the streets of Seville, Spain. Held between 1–7 October 2025 under the coordination of Asociación LEGO and implemented within the framework of Project No. 2025-1-ES02-KA152-YOU-000297374, the project brought together participants from Spain, Türkiye, Hungary, Ukraine, and Romania. Dedicated to promoting gender equality through storytelling, the project encouraged young people to engage directly with the local community and raise awareness about stereotypes in children's literature.
The day began with street interviews conducted in parks and public squares, where participants invited local residents to share their opinions about well-known fairy tale characters and the gender roles they represent. These conversations created meaningful opportunities to discuss how traditional stories influence children's perceptions of women and men and why more inclusive narratives are needed.
In the afternoon, participants organized one of the project's most visible dissemination activities. Wearing Erasmus+ T-shirts and costumes inspired by classic fairy tale characters such as Snow White, Cinderella, and Rapunzel, they marched through the city center carrying banners with messages promoting gender equality. Throughout the event, participants distributed project booklets and bookmarks featuring their newly created anti-stereotype fairy tales, encouraging passersby to reflect on the importance of equal representation in children's stories.
The day concluded with a visit to Sevilla Girasol Association, one of the project's official stakeholders, where participants exchanged ideas with representatives of local organizations. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss future cooperation and highlighted the importance of community involvement in promoting equality, inclusion, and non-formal education beyond the duration of the project.
